The City of Denton’s Economic Development Office works closely with the Denton Independent School District, North Central Texas College, the University of North Texas, and Texas Woman’s University to create opportunities for the training and advancement of Denton's workforce. City Economic Development Staff assists local businesses to form partnerships with these educational institutions in specialized training for employees and research and development projects.
The Skills Development Fund is an innovative program created to assist Texas public community and technical colleges finance customized job training for their local businesses. Average training costs are $1,000 per trainee; however, the benefit may vary depending on the proposal. North Central Texas College has worked in conjunction with state officials on the Skills Development Fund program and is willing to submit an application on the project's behalf.
