A fast-growing helicopter ambulance company plans to begin construction on its new headquarters and hangar near Denton Enterprise Airport, which will relocate its corporate office from Lewisville.
Air Medical Group Holdings Inc., a national helicopter ambulance company, has been quickly growing, which has been propelled by expanding health care organizations partnering with the firm, said CEO Fred Buttrell, who runs Air Medical Group and its subsidiary Med-Trans Corp.
We have found a market niche,” said Buttrell, who spoke to the DBJ in 2012 about the company's growth spoke to the DBJ in 2012 about the company's growth. “We partner with health care services companies, and no two agreements are the same. We have a customer intimacy model that meets their needs."
Construction is slated to begin on the new facility next Thursday.
The new 35,000-square-foot office and hangar will sit on a tract along Westcourt Road in Denton next to the regional airport and in close proximity to other helicopter companies.
Doud BTS Inc. is the developer behind the project with Dallas-based Rubicon Representation, which also represented Med-Trans Corp. in its real estate search. Kyle Jacobs led the team with Rubicon Representation.
Air Medical Group has grown rapidly over the last decade. Last year, Bain Capital LLC sold Air Medical Group to another private equity firm — KKR & Co. LP — in a deal reportedly worth $2 billion.
Following the acquisition, KKR's head of health care investment Jim Momtazee said, in a statement, "Air Medical provides a vital service in the health care market. Having following Air Medical for several years, we believe that the company is poised for service expansion, and we look forward to partnering with management on this next phase of its evolution."
