Denton partners with DEC to launch entrepreneur center

The City of Denton is partnering with the Dallas Entrepreneur Center to launch a collaborative space for area entrepreneurs.

 

Stoke, located at 608 E. Hickory St., is a product of Connected Denton, a community-based initiative fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the city of Denton. The 9,216 square-foot space will be located just east of Denton’s Downtown Square. It is expected to open in the summer.

Denton Chosen for $42M Bloonberg better-data initiative

Thirteen cities from Anchorage, Alaska, to Waco, Texas, are getting a hand from former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg to make better use of data.

Bloomberg Philanthropies announced Thursday its latest round of "What Works Cities" selections. The $42 million program ultimately will provide 100 U.S. cities with expert help to make data publicly accessible, incorporate it better into decision-making and evaluate programs.

The first eight choices were announced in August.

Denton Arts Walk of Fame Announces Inaugural Year Inductees

The Denton Arts Walk of Fame is one of the newest features on the recently renovated East Hickory Street.

Running along both sides of E. Hickory Street from Locust to Bell, the walk will honor artists with ties to Denton. Each year, artists will be selected from fields of music, literature, architecture and visual and performing arts. The honoree’s name, their claim to fame, and “Denton Arts Walk of Fame” will be engraved on granite stones which are placed in the brick band by the sidewalks.

In fact, Redfin agent Connie Durnal states that “Denton is a quintessential college town that is known for its local music scene. The historic Town Square has a variety of shops and restaurants and high Walk Scores. Homes in Denton are more affordable than many of the suburbs that are closer in to Dallas.”
