Vice President | Denton Chamber of Commerce
Adam Gawarecki joined the Denton Chamber of Commerce and the Denton Economic Development Partnership in March of 2014 as Vice President of Economic Development. He is responsible for marketing the City of Denton to attract new business and industry. Prior to joining the Denton team, Gawarecki was the Vice President of Business Recruitment at the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation and also worked as a consultant with the World Economic Development Alliance in representing communities throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, providing assistance with marketing for new business attraction. Gawarecki holds a Bachelor's Degree in International Business and Economics and a minor in Marketing from the University of North Texas.

Director of Economic Development | City of Denton
Caroline was named Director of Economic Development for the City of Denton in October 2016. She was Assistant Director for Economic Development from August 2015 to September 2016 after serving as interim Assistant Director beginning in March 2015. Caroline joined the City of Denton in September 2014 as the Business Development Officer for Denton Municipal Electric, bringing with her 15 years of experience in program management, communications/marketing, and resource development. From 2011 to 2014, Caroline was Director of Communications and Marketing for University of North Texas Libraries. While at UNT, she earned an MPA in the university’s nationally-ranked Department of Public Administration. Prior to that, Caroline served as Director of Advancement at Cumberland Presbyterian Children’s Home in Denton and Communications Specialist at the Noble Foundation in Ardmore, Okla. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University and is currently attending the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.

Karen Boenker is the Administrative Assistant of Economic Development for the Denton Chamber of Commerce since November 2012. Prior to this position, Karen worked in the accounting and property management industries. During this time, she was actively involved with many community boards and committees such as the City of Lewisville's Planning & Zoning Commission and TIRZ Board, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Leadership Lewisville, Old Town Business Association, ACS Relay for Life, and several other community activities. Karen graduated from University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administrative in Strategic Management.

Business Development Officer | City of Denton
Michelle Cunningham joined the City of Denton Economic Development Department in November 1998 and is responsible for Denton’s business retention, expansion and workforce development efforts, and the City’s education and international partnerships. Her prior industry experience includes strategic planning for Northrop Grumman and Yellow Freight Systems, new markets development for Marion Merrell Dow, national account management for AT&T and Canadian government and commercial sales for Beech Aircraft. Michelle is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), member of the International Economic Development Council and has served on the Texas Economic Development Council Education Committee. She became a certified Economic Development Financial Professional (EDFP) through the National Development Council in 2015 and has served on a number of Denton non-profit boards supporting community quality of life and business development. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Kansas State University with majors in business management and labor relations.

Julie Glover holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in journalism and a Master's in Business Administration from Texas Woman's University. In 2001, she earned her Professional Certification in Downtown Management from the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She is a past recipient of the Texas Historic Commission's Anice B. Read Award of Excellence in Community Heritage Development and has served as President of the Texas Downtown Association. She has worked for the downtown revitalization program since 1994. Julie serves on advisory boards for the Denton Convention and Visitor Bureau and the Denton Holiday Festival Association, and is involved in numerous civic and community service organizations. She is the staff liaison for the Downtown Task Force and Denton Main Street Association.

Christina Davis, Economic Development Marketing Specialist, joined the City of Denton Economic Development in September of 2006. Prior to working for the City of Denton, Christina worked eight years for the City of Modesto, CA, in the Business Development Division of Community & Economic Development, and the Modesto Redevelopment Agency. During her time in Modesto she was responsible for marketing Modesto, branding the Redevelopment Agency, and served as interim Business Analyst. Currently, Christina is the creative talent and editor for several economic development publications and coordinator for retail marketing programs for the City. Ms. Davis holds an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Valley Commercial College and is a certified Paralegal.

Erica Sullivan joined the City of Denton’s Economic Development Department in 2008. Prior to her current position, she worked for the Heart of Texas Council of Governments for six years and most recently served as Director of Regional Services for the organization. Erica has over 15 years experience in government and 10 years in the Economic Development field. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso. She is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute and the City of Denton's Leadership Certification Program. She is a member of the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) and has served on two of the association's committees. She was a speaker at the Technology Basics for Small Business Training in Denton, Texas in July 2009 and the Texas Environmental Trade Fair in Austin, Texas in May 2007.
